Dr. Vagner opened his practice in 2005. Since that time, he has committed himself to providing the highest quality of care for his patients. He uses advanced surgical techniques, including minimally invasive surgery, that have been proven safe and effective in both clinical trials and in practice. He typically begins with non-invasive treatments, such as cortisone injections, physical therapy, and joint stabilization. If these methods do not fully address patient needs, he is ready to perform a number of advanced surgical procedures.
Dr. Vagner is able to treat a broad range of conditions affecting the hands, wrists, and arms. Areas of focus include carpal tunnel syndrome, thumb arthritis, and follow-up care for complex joint reconstruction surgery.

Education, Experience, and Accolades
Dr. Vagner attended Baylor University, majoring in history and pre-med. He went on to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. In 1997, he graduated at the top of his class. He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Baylor. During that time, he was honored with the Bronze Hammer Award as the outstanding resident of the year. To further expand his knowledge, he completed a fellowship in hand, microvascular, and upper extremity surgery at the University of Utah. After returning to Texas, he was awarded the 2010/2011 Distinguished Surgeon of the Year Award by the Austin Area Association of Perioperative Medicine.
Dr. Vagner is double-certified in both orthopedic surgery and hand surgery. He serves as the clinical assistant professor of surgery in perioperative care at the new Dell Medical School. He is also the hand surgery consultant for the University of Texas athletic department.
